- Injectable Fillers
Details for Case #12114
A decrease in lip fullness caused this 48-year-old woman to contact Marina Plastic Surgery Associates to discuss her cosmetic treatment options. She was especially bothered by the thinness of her lips and the way they appeared to “pucker.” She was curious about using injectable to achieve a fuller look but wasn’t sure which one was right for her, so she scheduled an appointment at Marina’s plastic surgery practice in Southern California.
She decided to try a newer injectable made by the manufacturers of Restylane®. The filler is called Perlane-L and it offers many of the same benefits of Restylane, but the results last longer—usually 6 months to 1 year. Like Restylane, Perlane-L is made of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid and is used to add volume to areas around the eyes and lips. Because the molecules in Perlane-L are larger than those in Restylane, the body cannot break them down as quickly.
During the procedure, she received 1 syringe of Perlane-L. The “after” photos show an immediate improvement in the volume and contour of her lips. Over the next few weeks, any redness or swelling will subside and she will enjoy the new shape and size of her lips.
